I’ve been on around 25 first dates or so in the past 2 years. Not a crazy high number I don’t think but still, I don’t think I ever would have done that just meeting girls at bars or through friends. I had a couple end up lasting like 10 dates, just had fun with others, and several only went on that first date without a follow-up. For me it was a mixture of exciting and infuriating at the same time; but I can honestly say I learned a lot about what truly attracts me to someone and that, in turn, helped me find my current girlfriend. I’ve kept in touch with several of the girls I dated and am really good friends with a few. It’s more about putting yourself out there and learning that it’s okay to be rejected because, most of the time, it’s not because you’re ugly/weird/smelly, it’s because the connection isn’t there. And that realization is something that really helped me feel more comfortable in my own skin. Ironically though, I did not meet my girlfriend through online dating.
